Job details
About this role
Role overview A Quality Engineering Platform Engineer is needed to design and own the test automation infrastructure used by engineering teams across web, mobile, and backend services at a consumer fintech company serving millions of users. The role centers on building reliable, scalable test infrastructure and embedding quality practices into engineering workflows rather than treating testing as an afterthought. The position has direct impact on how confidently teams ship to production in a fast-moving, high-stakes financial environment.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and own shared test automation frameworks consumed by multiple engineering teams across web, mobile, and backend services - Maintain test execution infrastructure that runs automated suites reliably at scale, including flaky-test detection and triage tooling - Partner with engineering teams to raise test coverage and testing maturity, embedding quality practices directly into the development workflow - Develop tooling for test environment provisioning, test data management, and parallelized test execution to keep feedback loops fast - Instrument and monitor test infrastructure health (pass rates, run times, flakiness) and reduce friction points slowing teams down - Contribute to internal documentation and best practices that help engineers write and maintain effective automated tests
Requirements - 5+ years of professional experience in test automation, QE engineering, or backend/platform engineering with a strong testing focus - Deep experience designing and building test automation frameworks and tooling such as Playwright, Selenium, Appium, or Cypress - Proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js or similar languages, with experience architecting test frameworks rather than only writing individual test cases - Experience with cloud-native infrastructure (Kubernetes, AWS) and containerized test environments - Familiarity with testing across the stack, including API and integration testing plus end-to-end testing for web and mobile (e.g., React Native) - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence testing practices across multiple engineering teams
Nice to have - Familiarity with microservice-oriented architectures and the NestJS framework - Comfort with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or Cursor
Benefits and work setup - Competitive base salary, stock options, and health benefits from day one - 401(k) plan with company match - Remote-friendly within the US, flexible time off, and growth opportunities - High-growth, mission-driven, inclusive culture where engineering work has real consumer impact
