Remote job
Plant Process Simulation Engineer II
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Develop and maintain a plant process simulation model that helps engineering teams understand power plant design, operating behavior, and performance. The work spans steady-state and transient analysis, equipment modeling, and ongoing updates as plant designs evolve, with results supporting technical decisions and formal documentation.
Responsibilities
- Build and own a plant simulation model using a process modeling platform such as AVEVA Process Simulation, Aspen HYSYS, Siemens Flomaster, or a comparable tool. - Model existing and planned plant equipment, updating assumptions and representations as specifications and drawings change. - Develop automation for model creation and analysis to speed design decisions and inform plant economics and operations. - Create component-level models based on equipment specifications and performance data. - Collaborate with process engineering, instrumentation and controls, and power generation and distribution teams. - Prepare technical reports and supporting documentation for internal and external use, including regulatory submissions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, nuclear, aerospace, or a related engineering discipline. - At least five years of plant process development or modeling experience in power generation, petroleum, chemicals, or a similar industry. - Broad engineering knowledge, with sound systems engineering judgment and an understanding of plant operations. - Strong knowledge of thermodynamic cycles and process fluid modeling at both equipment and plant scale. - Clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to work creatively and effectively in an iterative, cross-disciplinary environment.
Nice to have
- Experience modeling power conversion systems. - Experience designing process systems in the power or chemical industries. - Interest in clean energy and advanced fission, with the flexibility to solve open-ended technical problems and learn quickly.
