Lead Software Engineer

Role overview Provide hands-on technical leadership for full-stack product engineering, shaping architecture and guiding work from early discovery through production and ongoing ownership. The role combines scalable application development with team leadership, performance and security improvements, and the design of AI-enabled workflows for engineering teams.

Responsibilities - Lead architecture and delivery of high-performance applications, primarily with Ruby on Rails, React, and cloud technologies. - Own projects end to end, translating unclear product needs into scoped work with measurable outcomes. - Build AI-assisted engineering tools and automation, and evaluate their effect on developer productivity and software quality. - Improve testing, code quality, performance, observability, reliability, security, and sustainable architecture. - Guide delivery by managing scope, technical debt, and sprint commitments; mentor engineers through reviews and coaching. - Partner with product, design, and engineering leaders, and facilitate architecture discussions, retrospectives, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements - At least seven years building modern full-stack applications, with strong Ruby on Rails and React experience or equivalent modern backend and frontend expertise. - Experience designing distributed systems and APIs for enterprise-scale products, using GraphQL, REST, or similar approaches. - Track record of improving application performance through benchmarking, observability, and scalability work. - Experience leading technical delivery and making architectural decisions, including serving as a team lead or backup lead. - Ability to build or customize AI-enabled engineering workflows; familiarity with prompt design, orchestration, output evaluation, and responsible use. - Strong systems thinking, communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have - Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform and data technologies such as Kafka, BigQuery, Flink, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
