Principal Software Engineer, Developer Compute Platform

Role overview

Set technical direction and build the services behind a global developer compute platform for AI agent sandboxes and virtual desktops. The work spans architecture, implementation, and deployment of secure cloud environments across regions, as well as the streaming experience that lets people and agents use those environments effectively.

Responsibilities

- Lead platform architecture and engineering from technical strategy and system design through implementation, testing, and global rollout. - Build distributed services that provision and manage isolated agent workspaces and virtual desktops across cloud providers, regions, and availability zones. - Set the approach for desktop streaming protocols and improve latency, bandwidth use, graphics performance, and the user experience. - Work with engineering, IT, and security leaders to translate workflow and end-user needs into platform capabilities and a longer-term roadmap.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. - At least 15 years in software, platform, infrastructure, or cloud engineering, including architecture and deployment of global cloud compute systems. - Deep practical knowledge of AWS and/or Azure compute, networking, identity, and storage services. - Strong experience with desktop streaming protocols such as Amazon DCV, PCoIP, or Omnissa Blast Extreme, including performance tuning. - Experience designing or operating virtual desktop and end-user computing solutions such as Amazon WorkSpaces, Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, Citrix, or Omnissa Horizon. - Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and the ability to influence technical decisions across teams.

Nice to have

- Experience with AI agent platforms, isolated execution environments, or agents that use full desktop systems. - Knowledge of GPU virtualization and accelerated virtual workstations, plus zero-trust design, container and VM security, and tenant isolation.

- The listing states eligibility for equity and benefits and gives a base salary range of USD 248,000–391,000, with pay determined in part by location and experience.
