Senior SQL Database Administrator - Remote

Role overview Own the availability, integrity, security, and performance of complex databases that support critical applications. This senior-level role combines hands-on administration and performance tuning with recovery planning, change and release coordination, documentation, and support for technical and business teams. The role is remote within the United States.

Responsibilities - Install, configure, maintain, upgrade, and patch database management systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL. - Monitor database health and performance, diagnose bottlenecks, and tune queries, indexes, and database operations. - Design and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery practices to support data availability and business continuity. - Manage permissions and security controls, conduct security reviews, and help protect data from unauthorized access or loss. - Partner with developers and architects on schemas, data models, and database related applications; coordinate application changes with release and change control teams. - Maintain database standards, data flow diagrams, operating procedures, metadata definitions, utilities, and automated reports; assist users and provide technical guidance.

Requirements - Advanced database administration experience, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning. - Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, stored procedures, and functions. - Strong knowledge of database security, access controls, encryption, backup, and recovery strategies. - Ability to monitor and resolve database issues and apply data architecture and data services principles. - Experience with application development lifecycles and data access layers. - Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain technical topics to different audiences and manage multiple projects.

Benefits and work setup - Remote work in the United States. - The listed annual compensation range is $108,000–$200,000, with the actual offer dependent on location, experience, skills, and other qualifications.
