Sr. Staff Security Engineer, Platform Security
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Establish a hands-on platform security assurance program for an infrastructure-as-a-service environment. The work focuses on understanding how GPU compute, storage, virtual networking, Kubernetes, and HPC scheduling actually operate, testing tenant boundaries, and giving engineering leaders evidence-based findings and remediation priorities.
Responsibilities - Review platform services individually, documenting their architecture, threat models, security requirements, findings, and remediation plans. - Assess bare-metal and virtualized GPU infrastructure, provisioning, firmware and management interfaces, accelerator assignment, and tenant teardown for isolation and data leakage risks. - Examine storage services for tenant separation, encryption, key handling, access control, snapshots, backups, secure deletion, and volume reuse. - Test virtual network segmentation, east-west controls, and separation of tenant traffic from management networks under realistic conditions. - Assess multi-tenant Kubernetes and SLURM/HPC security, including identity, admission controls, node hardening, network policy, privilege boundaries, and job isolation. - Partner with platform and infrastructure engineers to deliver fixes and secure defaults; measure control coverage and remediation trends. - Produce evidence demonstrating whether tenant workloads remain isolated.
Requirements - Deep, hands-on experience assessing or securing cloud infrastructure where the platform itself is the product. - Ability to trace real data and control paths, review configurations and implementations, test isolation assumptions, and produce clear assurance evidence. - Experience setting security standards, threat modeling services, prioritizing findings by practical exploitability, and guiding remediation. - Strong influence and communication skills to drive changes across teams without direct authority. - Comfort working in an ambiguous, founding-program role and building an evidence base as the security function develops.
Nice to have
Experience securing or assessing SLURM/HPC environments.
