About this role
Role overview Design and operate backend services that support customer funding and trading, including systems that distribute large volumes of data. This senior engineering role combines hands-on development with technical leadership and ownership of software quality, availability, and resilience.
Responsibilities - Build and maintain backend applications in Python and TypeScript for funding and trading workflows. - Guide engineering practices through code reviews, architectural feedback, and support for delivery quality and timelines. - Take responsibility for services across design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement. - Work with finance, treasury, new accounts, and trading teams to create accurate back-office algorithms and tools. - Improve monitoring and logging, including use of observability tools such as OpenTelemetry. - Reduce manual operational effort and document processing systems and workflows.
Requirements - At least eight years of software development experience with real-time applications, including design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. - Strong backend development experience with Python and TypeScript. - Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science. - Familiarity with Linux and cloud services such as Google Cloud Platform. - Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills, including the ability to resolve ambiguous issues and mentor colleagues. - Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity or software quality in production; eligibility to work in the United States is required, and sponsorship is unavailable.
Nice to have - Experience at a futures commission merchant, clearing firm, or broker-dealer operating under relevant financial regulatory frameworks. - Familiarity with clearing operations, self-clearing implementations, or treasury and money movement processes such as ACH, wires, fund holds, or account segregation. - Experience leading modernization or cloud migration in regulated financial services, and interest in futures or derivatives.
Benefits and work setup The position is based in Chicago with a hybrid schedule: office Tuesday through Thursday and remote Monday and Friday. Remote flexibility may be available to exceptional candidates in specified U.S. states.
