Backend Engineer

Role overview Build and operate the back-end services behind product features, including APIs, integrations, event-driven systems, and data pipelines. Some services support security operations and AI features. You will work with engineers across front-end, AI, and security disciplines, using Python or Node.js and cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities - Design, implement, and maintain REST APIs and services that respond to events. - Structure relational and non-relational data and write efficient queries. - Connect services to external APIs, identity providers, and security tools. - Create background processing and data pipelines using queues and serverless functions. - Add unit and integration tests, participate in code review, and follow changes through delivery. - Implement authentication, authorization, input validation, and safe secrets handling. - Add logs, metrics, and traces, and help diagnose issues in production.

Requirements - Around 3–4 years of professional back-end development experience. - Strong Python experience with a web framework, or Node.js experience with a back-end framework. - Experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL and at least one non-relational data store. - Experience building and using REST APIs; familiarity with a message queue system. - Hands-on experience with cloud services and Docker containers. - Understanding of API security risks, including unauthorized access to other users’ data and injection, and ways to prevent them. - Comfort with Git, code reviews, and continuous integration and delivery.
