Software Engineer 2

Role overview Build backend systems that turn user behavior into segments and models used to tailor software experiences. The role spans streaming data pipelines, APIs, production operations, and engineering decisions for a new personalization initiative.

Responsibilities - Build and scale Java services and Kafka pipelines that process behavioral data in a cloud environment. - Design microservices and APIs that make user segments and behavioral models available to product experiences. - Help translate behavioral signals into useful models for other parts of the platform. - Build, deploy, monitor, and roll back services; take part in on-call support. - Automate operational work and contribute to architecture discussions, code feedback, and engineering practices. - Use and assess AI coding assistants in development, review, and troubleshooting, and share effective approaches with the team.

Requirements - Strong Java skills and the ability to deliver small or medium features and fixes independently, from design through deployment. - Production experience with Kafka-based streaming systems and AWS. - Familiarity with distributed systems, concurrency, scaling, and asynchronous or event-driven programming. - Regular use of AI coding assistants or agents, with an interest in improving engineering workflows. - Collaborative approach to decisions and shared code ownership; able to work iteratively through ambiguity while following broader technical direction. - English proficiency.

Nice to have - GraphQL API or large-scale microservices experience, and familiarity with Kubernetes in production. - Cloud data processing, ETL, orchestration, or behavioral data modeling experience. - Work on recommendation systems, agent-enabled experiences, AI developer tools, or automation. - Open-source contributions, build and test automation, SQL tuning, or data visualization experience.
