Senior Forward Deployed Engineer

Role overview Embed with clinical, product, or operations teams to take AI ideas from initial scoping through production launch and ongoing monitoring. The role combines full-stack engineering with product judgment: deciding how to implement a solution, defining how it will be evaluated, and ensuring safeguards are built in for healthcare use.

Responsibilities - Scope and deliver AI features end to end, from intake and risk categorization through deployment and monitoring. - Build agent workflows using tool and function calling, retrieval-augmented generation, orchestration, and human review checkpoints. - Define acceptance criteria, offline and online evaluations, and escalation triggers before development begins. - Use shared model-serving, evaluation, monitoring, tool-registry, and prompt-safeguard capabilities rather than creating parallel systems. - Contribute reusable templates, tools, or reference designs, and help other teams build AI fluency through reviews and office hours. - Coordinate with clinical, product, engineering, privacy, legal, and regulatory stakeholders to meet validation and governance standards.

Requirements - At least six years delivering production-quality software, including shipped AI-powered features; demos or notebooks alone are insufficient. - Strong Python skills and practical cloud engineering and deployment experience, including APIs; comfort working in another team’s codebase. - Experience with LLM or imaging features using tools, retrieval, or agent orchestration. - Ability to evaluate probabilistic systems, reason about failure modes, and establish evidence-based performance measures. - Experience building evaluation harnesses and human-in-the-loop workflows, with the judgment to explain validation standards to senior stakeholders. - Strong product instincts: turn ambiguous requests into scoped, validated designs and push back on unsuitable approaches.

Nice to have - Experience in healthcare, clinical, regulated, or sensitive-data environments, including familiarity with patient health information. - AWS or Bedrock experience, MCP integrations, or building tool interfaces for other teams. - Consulting, solutions architecture, or forward-deployed engineering experience.
