Remote job
QA Software Engineer (Remote)
Job details
About this role
Role overview
A fully remote opportunity for a quality-minded engineer to serve as the founding QA owner for a fast-scaling care-plan platform serving veterinary practices. The role centers on building a test infrastructure from scratch across a full stack, pioneering AI-assisted testing workflows, and setting reliability standards that allow the engineering team to ship quickly with confidence.
Responsibilities
- Architect and grow an end-to-end test suite covering Flutter web and desktop clients alongside Python-based backend services, including contract and integration tests for payment processing and third-party integrations. - Use large language models to generate test cases from pull requests, specs, and code diffs; curate the output and build prompt libraries for repeatable AI-assisted QA workflows. - Drive exploratory testing by feeding application state, API responses, and UI structures into models to surface edge cases that humans typically miss. - Own production reliability from a quality lens, including error budgets, alerting thresholds, anomaly detection, resilience testing, and visual regression coverage for administrative and customer-facing interfaces. - Develop reusable test utilities, test data management strategies, and quality metrics that give the broader engineering organization a clear view of coverage and release readiness. - Partner with engineering, product, and support to identify quality risks early, advise on test patterns, and continuously evaluate new AI testing tools for real leverage.
Requirements
- Three or more years in a QA, SDET, or test automation role with an automation-first rather than manual-first approach. - Active, demonstrated use of AI or LLM tools such as Claude, Copilot, or Codex inside testing and reliability workflows. - Strong proficiency with Dart and Flutter testing, including unit, widget, golden, and integration tests. - Comfort writing Python tests for FastAPI and gRPC services, with pytest experience valued. - Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or comparable tools. - Familiarity with contract testing or API testing frameworks and with observability platforms such as Sentry or Datadog, including concepts like SLOs and error budgets.
Nice to have
- Experience testing Flutter Web with Playwright or similar tooling, or testing Flutter Desktop applications. - Strong product intuition and the ability to identify the small set of paths that carry most of the risk. - A self-directed working style suited to building a quality function from zero rather than inheriting an existing one.
Benefits and work setup
- Fully remote position. - High-ownership role with visible impact across the business during a period of rapid growth. - Mission-driven work focused on expanding access to preventive pet care. - Equal-opportunity employer with an explicitly inclusive hiring stance.
