Remote job
Solutions Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview Shape how a complex tax and accounting software product is evaluated and adopted as its first Solutions Engineer. You’ll work with prospective and existing customers to understand their systems and workflows, show how the product may fit, and guide technical evaluations. The role combines customer conversations, solution design, focused prototypes, and feedback to product teams; it does not own production deployments or core product engineering.
Responsibilities - Lead discovery to understand customer goals, processes, systems, constraints, and evaluation criteria. - Prepare and deliver tailored demonstrations, technical walkthroughs, and lightweight proofs of concept. - Explain solution architectures, data flows, and integration approaches across business and engineering systems. - Assess data readiness, access needs, security considerations, and technical risks; set clear expectations about fit and trade-offs. - Partner with Sales on technical qualification and evaluation planning, and coordinate handoffs to customer-facing and engineering teams. - Share recurring customer needs with Product and Engineering, and build reusable demos, documentation, and solution materials.
Requirements - Experience in solutions or sales engineering, technical consulting, implementation, or another customer-facing technical role. - Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, data flows, and enterprise software environments. - Ability to evaluate data quality and integration needs; SQL or scripting skills are helpful. - Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences, including the ability to explain architecture and trade-offs accurately. - Strong discovery, follow-through, and judgment in managing multiple stakeholders and distinguishing one-off requests from broader needs. - Comfort making progress in ambiguous situations while surfacing risks early.
Nice to have - Experience with enterprise SaaS evaluations, multi-stakeholder sales, data integration, ETL/ELT, or SQL-heavy systems. - Familiarity with accounting, tax, finance, fintech, AI/ML, or enterprise security and compliance.
Benefits and work setup Remote-first team, with time-zone overlap with the U.S. West Coast preferred and occasional travel for key customer engagements. The listed package includes a $170,000–$190,000 salary range, equity, health coverage, wellness support, a 401(k), paid leave, and family leave.
