Senior Software Engineer (Ruby)

Role overview Build and modernize large-scale web services used to access public programs. Working on a small team, you will contribute across the development lifecycle, from technical planning and architecture through implementation, production support, and ongoing improvement. The work emphasizes usable, accessible, secure, and dependable services.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and review full-stack software with other engineers. - Work with public-sector partners and contractors to architect, implement, and deploy new systems and improvements to existing ones. - Deliver user-focused features iteratively and contribute to technical planning. - Automate development, testing, and production workflows; document systems and review code. - Join an on-call rotation to support production services and investigate incidents. - Participate in hiring activities when needed.

Requirements - At least 12 years of full-stack engineering experience, including work on both frontend and backend web systems. - Experience with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, and modern web frameworks. - Background building large-scale applications and designing for scalability, availability, and performance. - Strong engineering fundamentals, architecture judgment, automated testing, and code quality practices. - Self-direction, sound written and verbal communication, and the ability to collaborate and exchange feedback. - Client services experience and an empathetic, adaptive approach to teamwork.
