Software Engineer

Role overview Build and improve software that makes large-scale hosting infrastructure easier to operate and use. This full-stack role spans customer-facing features and backend systems, with room to take ownership from design through production and help an autonomous team deliver reliable changes iteratively.

Responsibilities - Develop software across the stack, with particular emphasis on front-end work and end-to-end ownership. - Design and build backend services and APIs that address complex infrastructure challenges. - Work with product partners and stakeholders to turn customer needs into robust solutions. - Identify ways to simplify processes, improve systems, and introduce useful innovations. - Support operational issues escalated by customer service, including for large-scale applications. - Contribute to team practices such as automated testing, refactoring, and continuous improvement.

Requirements - At least four years of software development experience and two years supporting a large-scale application in an operational role. - Strong backend software development skills and experience with object-oriented programming; Ruby or a similar language is relevant. - Front-end development experience with a framework such as React, Angular, or Vue. - Familiarity with Linux or Unix development and container platforms such as Docker or Kubernetes. - Understanding of Agile practices, including automated tests, continuous integration, and collaborative development. - Clear communication, self-management, and an ongoing interest in learning.

Nice to have - A computer science degree or equivalent evidence of strong backend engineering work. - Security-focused development, container orchestration, database design or performance tuning, Linux DevOps, or systems administration experience.
