Senior Software Engineer, LIMS

Role overview A senior engineering role focused on delivering intuitive, customer-facing web experiences for a laboratory information management system. The position partners closely with architecture, product, and design peers to shape technical direction, build scalable microservices, and raise the bar on engineering quality. The work takes place in a regulated environment that handles protected health information, so HIPAA awareness and compliance discipline are part of the job.

Responsibilities - Partner with architecture to drive complex system design and define the engineering vision - Conduct code reviews and mentor teammates on best practices for secure, maintainable code - Translate stakeholder requirements into scalable, developer-friendly microservices APIs - Design, build, and maintain reliable systems that support core business applications - Evangelize process improvements and contribute to end-to-end compliance initiatives - Develop new functionality and maintain existing components across the stack

Requirements - BS in computer science or a comparable program, or equivalent practical experience - 7+ years of professional software development on secure, scalable web applications with Java - Hands-on object-oriented programming using Spring Framework and Hibernate - Cloud experience, ideally with AWS services such as SQS, S3, and SNS - Background building microservices, REST APIs, and event-driven architectures at scale - Strong relational database skills, including design and optimization on MySQL or PostgreSQL - Familiarity with Docker or other container technologies and CI/CD pipelines

Nice to have - Front-end experience with React, Sass, Gulp, Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript - Ruby and Ruby on Rails development experience - Linux fundamentals and a quality-assurance mindset
