About this role
Role overview Own day-to-day IT operations and endpoint and identity security for a growing, distributed workforce. This hands-on role is the primary technical contact for support, access, and device management, with responsibility for setting processes and working closely with security leadership. It suits an experienced IT operator who can work independently and balance urgent support with improvements that help the function scale.
Responsibilities - Resolve and escalate Tier 1–3 support requests across Windows and macOS, keeping users informed and meeting service targets. - Manage employee onboarding and offboarding, including account access, device setup, training, and timely deprovisioning. - Set and maintain identity and access practices, including permissions, least-privilege controls, and periodic access reviews. - Administer endpoint enrollment, security monitoring, and patching; manage devices through Intune and Microsoft Defender. - Handle hardware inventory and logistics, including equipment shipping, returns, and repairs, and manage user and group settings in Google Workspace. - Document support procedures and maintain core SaaS tools while partnering with security leadership on access matters.
Requirements - At least 7 years of IT support or operations experience, including time as a senior or sole IT resource. - Experience running IT in a startup or similarly lean environment, covering support, infrastructure, devices, security, and access management. - Practical knowledge of Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender, Google Workspace, endpoint protection, patching, encryption, and remote-work security. - Experience supporting both Windows and macOS, administering IAM, and managing onboarding and offboarding through ticketing and service-level processes. - Understanding of protected health information and HIPAA, plus clear communication with technical and nontechnical colleagues. - Able to work independently, handle ambiguous problems, and ship, receive, or temporarily store company equipment at home.
Benefits and work setup - Remote role for candidates in the contiguous United States; must live in the Eastern Time Zone. - Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Eastern, with availability as needed for urgent issues. - Listed base salary range: $110,000–$120,000, depending on relevant experience. - Benefits include paid holidays, time off, medical, dental and vision coverage, stock options, life and disability insurance, and a 401(k).
