Senior Software Engineer, Add-Ons

Role overview

This role is a senior software engineering seat on the team behind a major browser add-ons ecosystem, including developer publishing tools, reviewer tooling, and automated moderation systems. The engineer leads major feature and architectural work across the full stack, helping modernize the platform and keep it safe, reliable, and trustworthy for millions of users and extension developers.

Responsibilities

- Deliver major features and architectural improvements across the add-ons stack, including automated moderation pipelines, Reviewer tools, and the developer hub. - Build observability systems and data-backed insights that improve reliability and inform decisions. - Improve platform reliability through deployments, monitoring, and incident response on Google Cloud infrastructure. - Strengthen ecosystem safety through abuse report management, trust and safety signals, and policy-compliant moderation. - Respond to issues ranging from small bugs to larger incidents affecting users and developers. - Collaborate with designers, product managers, QA, and community contributors in the open through pull requests, code reviews, and discussions.

Requirements

- Experience building modern web applications across the full stack. - Strong background in Python and Django or comparable backend frameworks. - Solid understanding of web security principles and practices. - Strong collaboration and communication skills in a distributed team environment. - Comfort navigating ambiguity, exploring solutions, and shaping direction in new problem spaces. - Alignment with values including welcoming differences, being relationship-minded, practicing responsible participation, and showing grit.

Nice to have

- Experience building automated security or trust and safety systems. - Exposure to Google Cloud or similar cloud infrastructure. - Open-source contributions or prior work on policy-compliant ecosystem moderation tools.
