Sr. Software Engineer (AI Systems)

Role overview

This senior remote role is centered on engineering the software foundation that powers AI products, including APIs, data services, integrations, and secure, scalable deployments. It is geared toward a backend engineer who can bridge architecture and hands-on implementation while collaborating closely with machine learning and data science teammates.

Responsibilities

- Build and maintain backend services and APIs that power AI-enabled products. - Integrate AI capabilities into existing systems, including internal workflows, internal tools, and customer-facing applications. - Design data flows and interfaces that connect products, models, and storage systems. - Implement robust testing, error handling, and observability across services. - Collaborate with ML and data science teammates to productionize research outputs and prototypes.

Requirements

- At least five years of experience building AI-adjacent or data-adjacent software systems in production. - Strong fundamentals in system design, API design, and software engineering best practices. - Backend experience with TypeScript and/or Python. - Experience with cloud infrastructure and modern deployment patterns, including containers and either infrastructure-as-code or managed services. - Ability to move fluidly between high-level architecture and hands-on implementation.

Nice to have

- Experience building agentic workflows or integrating LLMs into product experiences. - Security-minded development practices, including authentication and authorization, secrets management, and threat modeling.
