Front End Engineering Manager, Firefox Desktop

Role overview

Lead a distributed engineering team responsible for the user-facing experience of a popular desktop web browser across Windows, Linux, and macOS. Responsibilities

- Drive initiatives that deliver high-quality, reliable, and maintainable browser software to end users. - Help the team navigate trade-offs between rapid delivery and long-term technical health across a portfolio of user experiences. - Communicate project goals, scope, and risks clearly, and own delivery against defined timelines. - Build and refine engineering processes that keep the team productive and high-performing. - Hold regular one-on-ones that mix technical discussion with career development and candid performance feedback. - Partner closely with Product, UX, QA, Operations, and Data Science collaborators.

Requirements

- 4+ years leading engineers in a software development environment, including work across multiple distributed teams. - A software engineering background with the credibility to drive technical decisions and engage engineers at all seniority levels. - Experience leading several concurrent projects to completion. - Track record of delivering frontend experiences to user-facing products on time, using data to inform schedules. - Hands-on experience with web technologies such as JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS. - Prior work on frontend platform initiatives such as design systems or architectural improvements. - Strong communication skills and a collaborative, relationship-driven leadership style.

- Experience contributing to or working within open-source browser or platform projects. - Familiarity with shipping across multiple desktop operating systems.
