Role overview
Set and guide the creative and design direction for a new game project, ensuring its systems, story, art, and gameplay form a cohesive player experience. You’ll work with senior creative and game leaders and coordinate across disciplines, balancing the intended vision with production and technical realities from early concepts through later project stages.
Responsibilities - Align game design, art, and story with the project’s creative direction. - Establish working methods and communicate quality, content, and player-experience expectations to teams. - Translate design concepts into actionable direction for level design and engineering. - Coordinate design work across art, sound, visual effects, engineering, and production, including clear requests and documentation. - Develop the game’s creative foundations, including theme, context, gameplay, and visual effects. - Participate in concept development and project reviews from pre-production through production and live stages; keep senior leaders informed of progress.
Requirements - At least four years of leadership experience in games or a relevant field, and ten or more years in design leadership or management. - Knowledge of Unreal Engine and its limitations. - Experience prototyping concepts with a small team and assessing feasibility for production. - Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira. - Strong organization, presentation, mentoring, and cross-discipline communication skills. - Ability to use presentation and design tools, with a strong understanding of the games market.
