About this role
Role overview Shape the player experience of a horror-themed indie game franchise by designing intuitive, immersive, and visually striking in-game user interfaces. This contract UI/UX Designer role sits at the intersection of design, art, and gameplay, owning both the usability logic and the visual execution of HUD, menus, and interactive systems.
Responsibilities - Design player flows, wireframes, interaction models, and UI prototypes that test usability and engagement - Build HUDs, inventory systems, and other in-game interfaces with attention to readability, accessibility, and responsiveness across platforms - Create high-quality UI visuals, icons, symbols, and visual indicators aligned with the game's tone and atmospheric style - Drive the end-to-end UI workflow from wireframing and prototyping through asset creation and implementation support - Maintain UI style guides, component libraries, and supporting documentation - Partner with game designers, technical designers, and art teammates to keep UI aligned with overall vision and mechanics
Requirements - 3+ years of UI/UX design or UI art experience for games or interactive media - Portfolio demonstrating both UX thinking and high-quality visual UI work - Experience designing game HUDs, menus, and interactive systems - Proficiency in Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, or comparable design tools - Hands-on experience implementing UI in Unreal Engine UMG - Strong sense of visual hierarchy, typography, layout, and motion design or UI animation skills
Nice to have - Background working on horror or atmospheric games - Familiarity with Unreal Engine Blueprints and basic scripting or technical implementation - Experience with live games and iterative UX improvements informed by player feedback - Knowledge of accessibility standards in games
