About this role
Role overview An 8-month contract position is available for a Senior Cinematic Animator contributing to a AAA video game project. The role covers the full cinematic pipeline, from script interpretation and scene layout through final in-engine implementation of body and facial performances.
Responsibilities - Develop high-quality cinematic animation using a mix of motion capture and hand-key techniques. - Collaborate with Animation Directors and Lead Animators to design cinematics that match the project's visual direction. - Help set and maintain performance standards, coordinating with other departments for clean engine integration. - Refine both body and facial performances to achieve lifelike, engaging scenes. - Take part in team feedback sessions, present work, and apply critique constructively. - Use project management tools such as Jira and Flow to track tasks and report progress, surfacing potential blockers to animation leadership.
Requirements - Senior-level experience delivering cinematic animation for games or similar productions. - Advanced skills in Maya and proficiency with Microsoft Office. - Strong grasp of animation and camera craft for immersive cinematic storytelling. - Familiarity with state machine flow in a game engine. - Ability to estimate, schedule, and mentor junior artists. - Authorization to work in the United States.
Nice to have - Experience with proprietary animation tools, MotionBuilder, or Adobe Premiere.
