Founding AI Engineer

Role overview A founding engineering seat on a small AI and data consultancy that helps funded startups move from AI concepts to production systems. This is the first dedicated product engineering hire, responsible for turning repeated client work into reusable software that ships, runs reliably, and scales beyond any single engagement.

Responsibilities - Own the full lifecycle of internal products, from initial idea through production deployment and ongoing maintenance - Build end-to-end AI products spanning data pipelines, models, backend services, and user-facing interfaces - Identify recurring patterns across client engagements and decide which are worth turning into software - Ship production-grade systems, not prototypes, and take responsibility when things break - Integrate with the SaaS and AI tooling that customers already rely on - Set and uphold the technical bar for how products are designed, documented, and maintained

Requirements - Track record of shipping LLM or AI products to production, with examples that can be reviewed - Full-stack fluency across JavaScript or TypeScript and Python, comfortable working from data layer to user interface - A long-term engineering mindset: documented, maintainable, owned code rather than clever-but-fragile work - Strong sense of ownership with the ability to identify what matters next without waiting for a ticket - Willingness to learn quickly in a field that shifts month to month - Drive to do high-caliber work in an environment that rewards impact

Nice to have - Experience operating in early-stage or founding engineering roles where ambiguity is the norm - Comfort owning architecture decisions independently rather than receiving them from above
