About this role
Role overview An intelligent transportation company is hiring a Technical Solution Engineer to bridge customer operational needs, product capabilities, and software engineering execution across complex hardware and software deployments for cities and transportation agencies. The role is heavily engineering-focused, with roughly 80% of time spent on hands-on prototyping, automation, data modeling, and technical problem solving rather than traditional sales presentations. Responsibilities - Provide expert pre-sales technical support for complex hardware and software deployments, including leading product demonstrations for technical and executive audiences. - Assess customer infrastructure, map solutions to agency pain points, and deliver on-site technical training and change management. - Design and implement rapid prototypes or custom workflow configurations and own Proof of Value documentation to validate ROI and secure technical wins. - Translate complex operational and agency needs into technical task breakdowns, product requirements, and engineering specifications. - Structure ambiguous technical challenges, analyze system data, and apply mathematical modeling to evaluate performance patterns. - Convert successful custom solutions into long-term engineering specifications and scalable product features, partnering with Account Executives, Product Management, and Engineering.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, with an advanced technical degree considered an asset. - Proven experience building rapid prototypes, automating technical tasks, and solving ambiguous operational problems across hardware and software. - Strong data and quantitative analysis skills, including mathematical or statistical modeling of system performance. - Excellent communication and presentation skills with both technical practitioners and executive stakeholders. - Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with sales, product, and engineering teams and translate custom work into reusable product capabilities.
Nice to have - Domain expertise in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), transportation infrastructure, fleet or telematics, or connected vehicle technology.
Benefits and work setup - Comprehensive health benefits from day one, 24/7 virtual healthcare access, and dedicated wellness programs. - RRSP or 401(k) matching plan and a variable incentive plan tied to company and individual performance. - Flexible vacation policy plus unique extra time-off days designed for recharge and work-life balance. - Flexible work options, internet subsidy, remote work allowance, and enhanced parental leave. - Equal opportunity employer with accommodations available on request through the application process.
