About this role
Role overview
A leadership opportunity to head a multidisciplinary design team focused on the full customer journey—from first awareness through activation, ongoing engagement, and referrals. The role sits at the intersection of design craft, experimentation, and business performance, shaping how a financial technology product is discovered, understood, and adopted.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and grow a team of designers working across conversion, activation, virality, and broader customer experience surfaces - Partner with product and engineering leadership to identify high-leverage opportunities and translate ambiguity into clear, compelling design direction - Drive an evidence-based design practice, using experimentation, customer insight, and business results to inform priorities and decisions - Maintain a high craft bar across a wide portfolio, from public web presence to onboarding and in-product moments - Build the operating systems, rituals, and team structures that allow the design practice to scale without becoming mechanical - Shape hiring and team composition as the organization expands, maintaining a high bar for talent
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing senior product or growth designers, including coaching through ambiguous, high-stakes work - Track record of using design to move measurable business outcomes without sacrificing customer experience - Strong visual and product judgment, comfortable evaluating details while also seeing the larger system - Versatile leadership style, comfortable shifting between strategic partnership, sharp critique, organizational clarity, and hands-on involvement - Genuine investment in people development: setting a high bar, giving direct and thoughtful feedback, and tailoring growth paths - Curiosity about customer behavior and comfort operating independently in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
Nice to have
- Background does not need to be exclusively in "Growth" roles; experience from product design, consumer products, or commerce where design quality and business performance intersect is equally valued
Benefits and work setup
