Role overview A large, mission-driven oncology research organization is hiring a Senior IT Project Manager to lead complex technology initiatives that support community-based clinical trials and cancer research. This is a remote, US-based position focused on guiding high-visibility, ambiguous, and executive-sponsored projects that span multiple business units within a heavily matrixed environment. The role combines hands-on program leadership with continuous improvement of project management practices.
Responsibilities - Direct cross-functional projects involving product launches, application development, systems integration, operational efficiency initiatives, process reengineering, and infrastructure upgrades. - Develop financial forecasts, reconcile resources, and track project expenditures against budgets. - Run continuous risk and issue management processes, partnering with leaders to design and execute mitigation plans. - Champion servant leadership by removing impediments, aligning sponsors and stakeholders, and enabling teams to deliver under ambiguity. - Identify and roll out improvements to project management methods, tools, and organizational capabilities.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, plus 5+ years of IT project management work; healthcare experience is strongly preferred. - Demonstrated track record of establishing and delivering complex, multi-stakeholder projects from initiation through closure. - Proficiency navigating a matrixed organization and managing stakeholder relationships at multiple levels. - Strong communication, presentation, influencing, and negotiation skills, with the ability to deliver difficult messages diplomatically. - Solid grasp of project management methodologies and tools, complemented by strong problem-solving and change management skills.
Nice to have - PMP, Lean Six Sigma, Agile Project Management, or Scrum certification. - Experience with oncology, clinical research, or other regulated healthcare settings.
