About this role

Role overview This position focuses on maintaining and improving a modern, scalable web application for a US-based payments product, working as a mid-level Support Engineer on a Node.js backend stack. The engineer serves as the technical contact during the afternoon/evening shift (14:00–22:00 CET/CEST), triaging issues, debugging production systems, and contributing code fixes. The work blends hands-on troubleshooting with proactive product improvements inside a Scrum team.

Responsibilities - Triage incoming client reports, prioritize bugs, and drive issues to resolution during the 14:00–22:00 CET/CEST shift. - Debug modern Node.js/TypeScript services running on AWS, reviewing error tracking tools, infrastructure, and third-party integrations. - Write and maintain readable JavaScript code, applying SOLID, KISS, and established design and architecture patterns. - Modify and design basic database structures across SQL and NoSQL stores, and document delivered solutions. - Translate user stories and business complexity into working solutions and estimates in collaboration with the team. - Contribute to the internal knowledge base and share emerging trends, techniques, or libraries with peers.

Requirements - 2+ years of commercial experience building production Node.js applications. - Working knowledge of AWS services used for debugging, such as Cognito, CloudWatch, SQS, SES, and Lambda. - Solid grasp of modern JavaScript (ES2018+), OOP, clean code principles, and at least one backend framework, preferably Express.js. - Hands-on experience with relational SQL databases using ORMs or query builders (e.g., Sequelize, Knex). - Familiarity with NoSQL or in-memory data stores such as MongoDB or Redis. - C1-level English for client communication and documentation, plus C1-level Polish for internal team coordination. - Strong problem-solving instincts, attention to detail, and comfort delivering high-quality work under tight timelines.

Nice to have - Prior support, on-call, or other customer-facing engineering experience. - TypeScript fluency, additional backend frameworks, or serverless background. - Comfort with Docker for local environments and GitHub Actions for CI pipelines. - Working in Agile/Scrum teams with daily code-quality reviews. - Basic React debugging skills. - Open-source contributions or familiarity with automation tools such as n8n, Zapier, or Make.

Benefits and work setup - B2B contract at PLN 10,000–16,000 + VAT per month, full-time and long-term. - 100% remote, hybrid, or on-site options available based on preference. - Paid time off, a learning budget, health insurance, and a sport benefit. - Access to internal design and tech talks, regular feedback cycles, and Scrum team rituals. - Recruitment flow: CV review, recruiter phone screen, soft-skills interview, technical interview with a specialist, and final feedback.
