About this role

Role overview A senior product designer position dedicated to building cloud-based software for public safety agencies, including the first responders who rely on it during critical incidents. The role owns design for a specific product area while shaping standards that influence dispatch, records, analytics, and mobile experiences across the platform. It is suited to a designer who can lead autonomously in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities - Drive the full design lifecycle, from framing the problem and running research through prototyping, iteration, and partnering with product and engineering to ship - Create interfaces that span in-vehicle laptops, dispatch consoles, tablets, and mobile apps, with attention to responsive behavior and map-driven interactions - Design for high-pressure users such as law enforcement, EMS, firefighters, and 911 dispatchers, reducing cognitive load through clear information hierarchy, intuitive visuals, and responsive feedback - Run design-thinking sessions with cross-functional partners and align roadmaps, research priorities, and design critiques - Help maintain and evolve shared design systems, libraries, and contribution standards for the team - Explore where AI and machine learning can improve both the design process and the product itself - Present concepts to customers and senior stakeholders, gathering feedback and iterating quickly

Requirements - Seven or more years of professional product design experience for software - At least three years working on complex enterprise SaaS products - Hands-on experience leading mixed-methods user research - A portfolio showing shipped products designed end-to-end - Ability to manage competing priorities independently in a fast-paced setting - Strong craft in Figma, with experience contributing to design systems

Nice to have - Prior work on law enforcement, fire, or EMS software - Co-designing directly with end users - Designing for situational awareness or time-critical decisions - Strong visual design polish and presentation skills - Familiarity with native iOS and Android patterns - Experience applying AI/ML in product or design workflows

Benefits and work setup - Remote-friendly team with health, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their families - Unlimited paid time off, sabbatical opportunities, and competitive parental leave - Focus on impactful work that supports public safety professionals and the communities they serve
