Educational Data Analyst

Role overview

This position supports K-12 education partners by translating analytical needs into working data products. The analyst partners directly with school district administrators to understand their data challenges, then designs and maintains custom dashboards alongside ongoing data integrations. Reporting to the Head of Data Science, the role balances client-facing engagement with hands-on data engineering and visualization.

Responsibilities

- Engage with district leaders and educators to clarify analytics requirements and coach stakeholders on how to interpret dashboard outputs - Design and develop custom metrics, visualizations, and reporting dashboards tailored to each district's needs - Write and maintain SQL queries, manage database workflows, and ensure underlying data is accurate and accessible - Troubleshoot platform and data quality issues, diagnose root causes, and maintain reliable reporting through effective data modeling - Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product teammates to enhance the shared data platform

Requirements

- At least four years of experience as a data analyst, data engineer, or similar role - Hands-on experience working with educational data and familiarity with K-12 school environments - Advanced SQL skills for querying, modeling, and managing relational datasets - Proficiency with data visualization tools and dashboard design - Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with comfort working independently on projects

Nice to have

- Experience using Python for data cleaning, analysis, and automation - Familiarity with K-12 Student Information Systems such as Infinite Campus, PowerSchool, Skyward, or Aeries
