Senior AWS Platform Engineer

Role overview

Own and improve the AWS platform behind digital health applications used by millions of people. You’ll modernize a live cloud environment incrementally, strengthening reliability, security, scalability, and cost efficiency while giving engineering teams reusable infrastructure and safer ways to deliver software.

Responsibilities

- Design and evolve AWS infrastructure, using Terraform as the authoritative source for infrastructure changes. - Build reusable platform components, deployment pipelines, and tools that help teams release independently and safely. - Apply cloud-native, serverless, and event-driven approaches where they improve maintainability, scale, or reliability. - Establish consistent monitoring, logging, dashboards, and alerting across services. - Improve continuous delivery with automation, progressive releases, and dependable rollback plans. - Incorporate security, compliance, and cost controls into platform defaults; review work and coach engineers.

Requirements

- At least six years building and operating large-scale cloud platforms, with deep practical AWS experience and senior ownership of cloud architecture. - Extensive Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience, applying software engineering discipline to infrastructure. - Strong understanding of cloud-native, serverless, and event-driven systems, with sound judgment about when to use them. - Experience building production systems with observability, automated deployments, and safe release practices. - Ability to modernize established platforms through incremental changes and collaborate with teams across locations. - Strong backend engineering experience; Node.js and TypeScript are preferred. Fluency in English is required. - Openness to a Holacratic organizational model.

The role is remote-first within the Netherlands, with monthly in-person team days and a flexible workspace setup. The stated annual salary range is approximately €86,000–€94,000.
