Job details
About this role
Role overview Build a robotics adapter for a platform that analyzes operating-system and device diagnostics. This is a focused, deliverable-based contract working alongside a robotics team, with the possibility of moving into a full-time role. The work centers on making the platform useful for ROS 2 systems, from recorded data and middleware behavior to embedded hardware and sensor timing.
Responsibilities - Analyze rosbags, including MCAP files, and investigate ROS 2 failures using discovery and QoS logs. - Diagnose issues involving ros2_control, Nav2, or MoveIt. - Investigate Jetson and L4T boot and platform problems. - Work with TF2, sensor calibration, and multi-sensor time synchronization. - Help turn findings from robotics investigations into capabilities for the diagnostic platform.
Requirements - At least 10 years of relevant engineering experience. - Production experience with ROS 2, including DDS internals, discovery, and QoS behavior. - Practical experience with ros2_control, Nav2, or MoveIt. - Experience bringing up robotics systems on Jetson/L4T hardware. - Strong understanding of TF2, sensor calibration, and time synchronization. - Comfortable using command-line AI coding tools in everyday engineering work.
Nice to have - Real-time Linux experience, including PREEMPT_RT. - Experience with ros2_tracing or LTTng. - Independent end-to-end robot bringup or multi-sensor platform integration.
Benefits and work setup - Remote contract with at least four hours of daily overlap with Pacific or India Standard Time for collaborative debugging. - Occasional in-person meetings may be possible for people near Seattle or Bengaluru. - The role offers direct ownership, input into architecture and tooling, and close collaboration with a hands-on founding team. Compensation is described as top of market; no amount is specified.
