Senior Software Engineer, Card Authorization

Role overview The Card Authorization team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to own the real-time systems behind every card authorization decision. The role centers on building authorization and fraud-prevention services that are correct, reliable, and fast, along with the tooling customers use to manage fraud and payment risk. It is an end-to-end engineering position focused on distributed-systems problems at scale, on a remote, async-first team.

Responsibilities - Write reliable, secure, scalable code for real-time authorization and fraud-prevention systems while keeping technical debt minimal - Build customer-facing features such as rules improvements, velocity controls, 3D Secure flows, fraud tooling, and transaction monitoring, owning projects from planning through launch - Improve reliability of systems in the team's scope and participate in the on-call rotation - Lead efforts to enhance systems and processes within the team - Navigate ambiguity, align diverse perspectives, and drive toward practical solutions across time zones

Requirements - 4+ years building production backend systems; full-stack experience is a plus - Experience in or strong desire to learn Rust, with the ability to read code written in other languages such as Python and Java - Interest and experience leveraging AI tools to enhance engineering productivity - Comfort designing systems from scratch and owning the full product development process - Experience or strong interest in payments, fintech, or fraud prevention - Strong written communication skills and prior success working on a remote, async-first team spread across time zones
