Forward Deployed Engineer

Role overview This is an embedded engineering position within a clinical-stage biopharma organization that licenses and develops therapeutic assets. The Forward Deployed Engineer sits inside trial delivery teams, building studies on an internal platform and producing the compliant databases, data, and artifacts a clinical study depends on. The role blends hands-on coding, automation, and cross-functional collaboration in a regulated, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities - Configure and build assigned studies on the internal trial ecosystem from approved designs, covering data collection forms, participant schedules, edit-check logic, and user access controls - Set up and manage the integrations and data pipelines each study depends on - Run quality checks, build validation, coordinate user acceptance testing, and drive go-live activities - Implement approved mid-study changes to live studies while preserving accuracy and compliance - Operate within a technical support rotation, owning tickets for data corrections and helping debug platform issues under engineering oversight - Develop automated and agentic workflows that produce high-quality, compliant data - Contribute to the core platform codebase where needed, with engineering review - Provide technical input on data architect designs, build from those designs, and flag gaps or ambiguities early - Maintain documentation and conduct work in line with applicable regulations and internal SOPs

Requirements - Three to six years of experience in software, data, or systems work, gained through a technical degree or equivalent hands-on practice, with a track record of independent delivery - Proficiency in coding and AI-assisted development tools - Familiarity with relational databases; experience with Django admin is valued - Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot gaps and ambiguities before they become problems - Comfort working across technical and non-technical teams, with a drive to deeply understand and solve problems - Ability to prioritize effectively and keep multiple workstreams on track - Genuine interest in working in a regulated environment and producing audit-ready documentation
