Remote job
CAM Software Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview This role focuses on building native integrations between an AI platform and leading industrial CAD/CAM environments. You'll own the plugin and bridge code that connects desktop manufacturing tools to a cloud-based AI engine, working at the intersection of C#, C++, Python, and 3D geometry.
Responsibilities - Build and maintain native integrations with industrial CAD/CAM software, including plugins, add-ins, and COM-based bridges in C# and C++. - Extract and process geometry, features, and model data through native APIs, SDKs, and COM interfaces. - Map generic, CAM-agnostic actions into vendor-specific operations, either in the AI engine or inside the plugins. - Own the WebSocket-based protocol that bridges desktop plugins to the platform, including STEP file handling and feature recognition data flows. - Package, deploy, and maintain integrations across multiple CAD/CAM vendors and versions, managing compatibility, installers, and third-party desktop realities. - Set integration standards around reliability, error handling across native boundaries, debugging, performance, and testing. - Partner with customers and application engineers as the in-house expert on CAD/CAM integration.
Requirements - 4+ years of software engineering experience with strong, hands-on C# and/or C++ development. - Experience working with 3D-based software such as CAD, CAM, modeling, or simulation, whether as an integrator, plugin developer, or power user. - Hands-on experience with COM and at least one of Solid Edge, Siemens NX, Mastercam, hyperMILL, TopSolid, Catia, or 3DEXPERIENCE. - Familiarity with geometry kernels and CAD interop formats such as STEP, IGES, Parasolid, ACIS, or OCCT.
Nice to have - Domain knowledge of CNC machining, CAM workflows, toolpaths, or manufacturing processes. - Experience with Windows installers, code signing, and deploying to enterprise or regulated environments. - Background in geometry processing, computational geometry, or 3D mesh and B-rep manipulation. - Comfort working in a Python codebase and/or exposure to Rust for tooling or performance-critical work.
Benefits and work setup Fully remote position within the EU, on the R&D team, full-time.
