HL7/EDI Interface Engineer

Role overview Build and support data interfaces that connect laboratory information systems with client systems. You’ll work directly with clients on new integrations and changes, collaborate with support and development teams, and take increasing ownership after an introductory training period. The position is fully remote, with availability required during Pacific Time business hours.

Responsibilities - Create and maintain client interfaces using HL7, XML, ASTM, and X12 with the Mirth Connect interface engine. - Coordinate with clients to deliver new interfaces and modify existing integrations. - Write, test, and maintain JavaScript transformations for data exchange workflows. - Help the support team troubleshoot application and interface issues. - Work with developers to improve interface performance and reliability. - Join rotating one-week after-hours coverage for emergency issues; the source describes a $50 bonus per issue. - After onboarding, handle an expected average of 20–25 support tickets and 10 new interface tickets or projects per month.

Requirements - Ability to quickly learn interface processes and work with minimal supervision after training. - Practical knowledge of healthcare data exchange formats, including HL7, XML, ASTM, and X12. - Experience with Mirth Connect and JavaScript transformation scripting. - Ability to work directly with clients and collaborate across support and development teams. - Availability during standard business hours, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Pacific Time.
