Senior Mobile Quality Engineer

Role overview

The mobile application serves as the central experience where customers access a range of consumer finance products in one place, built with React Native and TypeScript and shipped to iOS and Android from a single codebase. The team is looking for a Senior Mobile Quality Engineer to elevate quality engineering practices and enable faster release cadence without sacrificing reliability. This is an automation-first position focused on writing code, including test frameworks, CI tooling, and helpers, rather than executing test scripts by hand.

Responsibilities

- Define and evolve a pragmatic test pyramid for a React Native application, deciding where end-to-end coverage is worth the cost and where logic belongs in faster layers such as unit and component tests - Build and maintain reliable mobile end-to-end suites using Maestro, including the surrounding scaffolding of test data, device configuration, helpers, and reporting - Integrate test suites into continuous integration pipelines so engineers get fast, trustworthy feedback on every pull request and release candidates carry a clear quality signal - Treat flaky tests with the same severity as broken tests, driving root-cause analysis and reducing time-to-diagnosis - Apply AI-assisted tools to accelerate test authoring, cluster failures, surface coverage gaps, and propose fixes while exercising engineering judgment to keep tests trustworthy - Partner with product and engineering on shift-left quality, joining specifications early, pushing back on ambiguous acceptance criteria, and closing the loop on production issues using observability tooling

Requirements

- Hands-on experience with Maestro or Detox for mobile end-to-end automation - Six or more years in quality engineering or test automation, with a track record of maintaining stable suites rather than letting them decay - Experience introducing AI-assisted testing practices such as test generation, failure clustering, or coverage analytics, with sensible controls around review and trust - Strong TypeScript and JavaScript skills, including building helpers, tooling, and debugging into the application when needed - Experience shaping CI/CD pipelines for test reliability, including flakiness reduction, parallelisation, artefact management, and runtime control - Comfortable with mobile end-to-end automation, or strong E2E experience on another platform plus a credible plan for getting productive on mobile quickly - Able to operate independently and drive improvements end-to-end across frameworks, CI, test data, and reporting

Nice to have

- Hands-on experience testing React Native applications - Mobile performance and reliability work such as crash reporting, startup time, and memory or battery awareness - API and contract testing experience, with a perspective on test data and environment strategy
