Remote job
Principal Product Manager, Agentic AI
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Define and deliver AI agents that carry out workforce management tasks, with appropriate human oversight for decisions affecting pay, scheduling, and compliance. You’ll work from customer research through prototyping, product specifications, evaluation, and enterprise deployment, staying involved through implementation and release. This is an individual contributor role with substantial ambiguity and no current people-management responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Research operational workflows with managers and frontline teams, then prioritize agent opportunities based on measurable value and suitability. - Define each agent’s scope, permitted tools, escalation rules, manager controls, audit records, and compliance review needs. - Build prototypes, write and refine prompts, inspect behavior, and work directly with code to demonstrate product concepts. - Maintain evaluation cases and release criteria; investigate failures and hold releases when quality or reliability falls short. - Write and maintain functional requirements as the authoritative product specification, checking implementation against them through release. - Lead design-partner pilots, set success measures, review outcomes, and help decide what becomes generally available. - Contribute to packaging, usage measurement, pricing inputs, and customer readiness with go-to-market teams.
Requirements
- A record of taking an ambiguous, operationally complex product from discovery through launch and demonstrated adoption. - Experience staying engaged through implementation and taking responsibility for release quality, including delaying or stopping a release when warranted. - Sound judgment about current AI model limits and a willingness to communicate them clearly. - Ability to work inside a codebase: read and run code locally and open a pull request; an engineering background is not required. - Strong written communication and the ability to form an independent product direction from operational research. - Familiarity with enterprise requirements such as multi-tenant architecture, access controls, audit trails, single sign-on, data residency, security reviews, and procurement.
Nice to have
- Experience in workforce management, HCM, ERP, supply chain, or another complex enterprise domain with compliance requirements. - Knowledge of labor rules, or experience becoming fluent in a comparable regulatory area. - Background in forecasting, optimization, decision systems, configurable platforms, or software for retail, hospitality, healthcare, or manufacturing. - Technical education or prior work as an engineer or data scientist.
Benefits and work setup
- Fully remote role with a listed salary range of $280,000–$300,000, plus bonus and stock equity. - Medical, dental, and vision plans with $0 monthly premiums, plus a 401(k), discretionary paid time off, paid holidays, and parental leave. - Monthly wellness reimbursement and lunch benefit. - The selection process includes a compensated practical exercise: design and prototype an agent for a sanitized workforce management problem.
