Job details
About this role
Role overview
A senior or staff-level engineering role focused on advancing the perception stack of an automated driving platform. The position sits within a unified modeling team that designs deep learning systems capable of interpreting road scenes from multiple sensors, feeding downstream modules such as motion planning, prediction, and localization. The work blends research, production engineering, and on-vehicle deployment at scale.
Responsibilities
- Design and build spatio-temporal machine learning models for tasks including 3D object detection, multi-sensor fusion, lane detection, and scene segmentation - Survey current literature, analyze raw sensor data, and prototype state-of-the-art perception approaches - Take algorithms from research prototypes through closed-course testing and onto public roads in production vehicles - Partner with perception experts and robotics engineers on algorithm design, prototyping, testing, deployment, and productization - Develop clean, efficient perception software that interfaces cleanly with other autonomy modules - Uphold high software engineering standards and contribute to a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field, plus seven years of industry experience - Expert-level applied machine learning with a record of shipping deep learning solutions using PyTorch, TensorFlow, or comparable frameworks - Hands-on experience building perception systems with camera, radar, and LiDAR sensors - Strong background in computer vision, perception, and point cloud processing - Demonstrated success shipping computer vision software to industry or consumers - At least five years of programming experience in Python and C++ environments
Nice to have
- Ph.D. focused on machine learning, or equivalent research experience - Experience developing and deploying temporal computer vision models, such as video activity recognition or multi-frame approaches for perception tasks
Benefits and work setup
- Competitive compensation with annual bonus eligibility and equity participation - Full medical, dental, and vision coverage for individuals and families, plus a health savings account with employer match - 401(k) retirement plan with immediate employer match vesting and employer-paid group term life insurance - Generous paid time off, including unlimited vacation, thirteen paid holidays, paid parental leave, and paid medical leave - Daily in-office meals, snacks, and beverages at all locations - Pre-tax accounts for healthcare, dependent care, and commuter expenses - Monthly wellness stipend, professional development reimbursement, and an employee assistance program - Family-support programs covering adoption, surrogacy, and backup child or elder care - Discounted legal, identity theft, and pet insurance programs, plus employee resource groups and team activity budgets
