About this role

Role overview A healthcare data and analytics company is hiring a Staff Platform Engineer to own the technical direction of its core control plane, including identity, subscriptions, SDKs, and platform services that power multiple customer-facing products. The role sets the standard for reliability, security, and developer experience across a multi-tenant SaaS used by hundreds of organizations.

Responsibilities - Lead architecture and delivery of major subscription service initiatives such as self-service SAML SSO, My Subscriptions enhancements, and admin workflows. - Define and evolve core platform contracts including APIs, data models, events, and RBAC patterns used by downstream product teams. - Build custom MCP tooling and autonomous agents that enable interoperability between internal systems and AI models. - Design and operate secure, scalable, cost-efficient backend services in Python (FastAPI preferred) and microservices on AWS. - Improve monitoring, alerting, and observability for platform services, and serve as an escalation point for complex cross-system incidents. - Collaborate with product, solution architects, forward-deployed engineers, and customer success teams to integrate authentication services with external APIs.

Requirements - Expert-level backend engineering experience building and operating APIs and microservices at scale, ideally in Python with FastAPI. - Proven track record designing core platform primitives (authentication/authorization, orgs, subscriptions, or similar control-plane systems) in multi-tenant SaaS. - Deep experience architecting secure, scalable solutions on AWS core services. - Familiarity with modern data and workflow tooling such as Snowflake, Airflow, and Spark, and observability patterns across distributed systems. - Demonstrated ability to drive complex cross-team projects, mentor engineers, and make thoughtful tradeoffs across performance, cost, and reliability.

Nice to have - Background operating platforms or developer tooling at scale and integrating AI-powered development workflows (Cursor, Claude, Gemini). - Experience with healthcare data ecosystems and analytics products.

Benefits and work setup Hybrid work model with hubs in San Francisco, New York City, and Chicago; comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance; flexible time off and holidays; 401(k) with company match; disability and life insurance; equity and performance bonus eligibility; and base pay ranges of $225,000–$275,000 for SF Bay Area and NYC, and $196,000–$240,000 for other US locations.
