About this role
Role overview This senior research consulting role leads client-facing engagements that apply health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) methods to large-scale, real-world healthcare datasets. The position sits at the intersection of clinical science, data analytics, and client strategy, increasingly augmented by AI-enabled workflows that accelerate the path from data to decision. The successful candidate functions as both a rigorous analytic lead and a trusted advisor, equally comfortable designing a study, defending its methodology, and translating findings into action for executive stakeholders.
Responsibilities - Design and execute end-to-end real-world evidence studies using healthcare datasets, pairing traditional statistical methods with emerging AI-enabled techniques. - Serve as the primary point of contact for client engagements, leading working sessions, presenting findings, navigating questions in real time, and adjusting analyses based on stakeholder feedback. - Distill complex datasets into clear, actionable insights delivered through reports, presentations, and dialogue tailored to both technical and executive audiences. - Collaborate with cross-functional partners across product, data science, clinical, and commercial teams to integrate research insights into product development and strategy. - Pilot and evaluate new AI tools, including enablement and specialist support for an internal AI platform, while mentoring colleagues on AI-native research workflows. - Build and maintain consultative client relationships, proactively shaping the ongoing research agenda through regular dialogue rather than one-off deliverables.
Requirements - PhD or equivalent advanced degree in a quantitative field such as epidemiology, biostatistics, or health economics, or equivalent practical experience. - Minimum of five years of experience in healthcare research or analytics, preferably in a client-facing consulting or industry setting. - Demonstrated client relationship management skills, including the ability to translate ambiguous questions into a clear, structured research plan. - Experience conducting end-to-end RWE/HEOR studies using descriptive and sophisticated causal inference methods such as propensity score matching or inverse probability of treatment weighting. - AI-native fluency or strong willingness to adapt, with hands-on experience using AI and LLM tools (for example, ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, Gemini, or comparable assistants) to accelerate research and analysis. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of leading research projects from inception through completion.
Nice to have - Established subject matter expertise in a specific therapeutic area or healthcare domain. - Experience mentoring teams on AI-native research approaches and adoption of new analytical platforms.
Benefits and work setup - Annual base salary range of $160,000–$195,000 USD for San Francisco Bay Area and New York City candidates, and $139,000–$175,000 USD for all other US locations, plus potential performance-based bonuses and equity awards. - Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, flexible time off and holidays, 401(k) with employer match, disability and life insurance, and leaves of absence per applicable law. - Hybrid work model with hubs in San Francisco, New York City, and Chicago; expectations for in-office rhythms versus remote flexibility are clarified for each role before hire.
