Job details
About this role
Role overview Lead hands-on engineering work to improve the performance, reliability, and growth capacity of a large, multi-tenant software platform. As a senior individual contributor, you will shape architecture across teams, investigate production constraints, and help ensure the platform can meet the needs of its largest customers and workloads.
Responsibilities - Set measurable targets for latency, throughput, error rates, and capacity, and align teams on service objectives and performance expectations. - Use production data, profiling, and repeatable benchmarks to find bottlenecks, then work with service owners to validate fixes. - Design and implement approaches such as sharding, partitioning, caching, back-pressure, workload isolation, and multi-region support. - Build reusable benchmarking and profiling tools, and coach teams in applying effective scale patterns. - Lead scalability reviews, establish release checks that surface risks early, and guide safe high-volume data migrations. - Investigate incidents to find systemic causes and communicate technical priorities and outcomes to engineers and executives.
Requirements - More than 12 years of relevant engineering experience, including measurable production impact from scaling systems. - Deep experience with multi-tenant SaaS, performance engineering, and distributed systems. - Ability to move between detailed technical investigation, implementation, and cross-team architectural leadership. - Strong judgment in making and explaining architecture decisions and connecting them to customer and operational outcomes.
Nice to have Experience applying AI-assisted profiling, workload modeling, synthetic traffic, anomaly detection, or guided operational runbooks, with clear safeguards and measured impact.
