Software Developer for ThinkRail (Innovation Hub)
Job details
About this role
Role overview This is an early-stage developer role on a small team building a new declarative programming language aimed at AI-spec-driven development. The project is currently open source and in alpha, focused on real-world adoption and hardening toward production readiness, with significant influence available over tooling, architecture, and product direction.
Responsibilities - Build and evolve developer tooling for the language, including VS Code and IntelliJ IDEA plugins. - Develop the language server, covering analysis, completion, diagnostics, and verification features. - Improve the evaluator that translates specs into code and detects drift between specifications and implementation. - Integrate the language with AI agent frameworks and protocols such as Koog, LangGraph, Spring AI, MCP, and ACP. - Work closely with the founder to shape technical decisions as the product evolves.
Requirements - Senior backend or full-stack engineer who can work independently and take ownership of complex problems. - Strong engineering fundamentals; the core codebase is currently written in TypeScript, but depth is valued over any specific language background. - Comfortable working in a small, fast-moving team with a high degree of autonomy. - Experience with developer tools, domain-specific languages, static analysis, LSP, editor plugins, or AI agents, or strong enthusiasm to dive deep into these areas.
Nice to have - Familiarity with declarative or spec-driven programming paradigms. - Prior involvement in open-source language or tooling projects during early-stage development.
