Senior Engineer - Cloud Operations

Role overview Lead the design and operation of secure, highly available cloud infrastructure for a SaaS platform running on AWS. This senior hands-on role combines cloud architecture, reliability engineering, and operational leadership, with responsibility for technical standards and high-impact production issues.

Responsibilities - Design and run AWS environments, including multi-account foundations, security controls, availability, and capacity planning. - Set standards for infrastructure as code, reusable modules, governance, and automated deployments. - Lead monitoring, logging, alerting, and reliability work; help define service targets and address performance bottlenecks. - Coordinate major incident response, investigate root causes, and deliver lasting corrective improvements. - Operate containerized services, guide disaster recovery planning, and establish measurable cloud cost controls. - Work with security and compliance teams, mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Requirements - Eight or more years in cloud operations, SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering, including senior-level technical ownership. - Deep AWS experience, including core compute, networking, identity, storage, DNS, and monitoring services; experience designing multi-account environments and landing zones. - Advanced Terraform or CloudFormation skills, including creating reusable modules and shared standards. - Production experience with Kubernetes and Docker, CI/CD architecture, and deployment approaches such as canary or blue-green releases. - Experience operating highly available services under demanding security and uptime requirements, and designing observability and incident response practices. - A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience; strong judgment, communication, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have AWS GovCloud, OpenTofu, Lambda or CodePipeline experience; an active Secret clearance; an AWS architect certification; or experience in SaaS or cybersecurity.
