Remote job
Staff Software Engineer - Detection Platform (GoLang)
Job details
About this role
Role overview A staff-level engineering role on the detection platform team that turns billions of raw telemetry events into signals a 24/7 security operations center acts on. The work combines deep distributed-systems engineering with hands-on technical leadership, modernizing detection engines and pipelines without disrupting the analysts who depend on them.
Responsibilities - Lead major workstreams to modernize the detection engine and pipeline, including stateful correlation across events over time. - Build reliability guarantees such as end-to-end latency measurement, liveness coverage, and alerting that catches the absence of expected work. - Design mechanisms that keep detection volume spikes bounded and recoverable. - Drive an internal standard for event schemas and data contracts, plus validation and drift-detection tooling. - Set technical direction that other engineering teams build against and contribute production code and reviews weekly.
Requirements - Deep experience designing, building, and operating large-scale production distributed systems, primarily in Go. - Track record of replacing or substantially re-architecting a live, high-throughput system without breaking its consumers. - Strong intuition for how high-volume event and data pipelines behave under load. - Operability-first mindset, including alerting that catches missing work rather than only errors. - Demonstrated technical leadership across team boundaries and sound judgment about production readiness.
Nice to have - Background in security operations or detection engineering. - Familiarity with Sigma-based detection logic and reading or reviewing Ruby on Rails code.
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote within the United States. - Generous paid time off, twelve weeks of paid parental leave, medical, dental, and vision coverage. - 401(k) with a five percent employer contribution, life and disability insurance, and stock options for full-time employees. - Home-office reimbursement, annual learning budget, a monthly digital stipend, and access to a coaching platform.
