About this role
Role overview
Help establish mobile engineering for a retirement savings product, building experiences for employees and, over time, plan administrators. As an early engineer on a new team, you’ll shape the app architecture and delivery practices from the ground up, while owning product outcomes such as reliability, release quality, and user experience. The work combines hands-on mobile development with technical leadership and regular use of AI coding agents.
Responsibilities - Design and ship polished mobile features for iOS and Android, including tools that help users understand and manage retirement savings. - Establish a modular, testable codebase and help determine the team’s native and cross-platform approach. - Use coding agents throughout development, reviewing their output for correctness, security, and quality. - Build secure mobile flows for authentication, biometrics, balances, and sensitive financial data. - Set up release practices such as CI/CD, staged store rollouts, feature flags, and automated UI testing. - Work with Product, Design, and backend engineers on app experiences, API contracts, accessibility, and performance.
Requirements - 5+ years building and maintaining production software, including ownership of consumer mobile apps across multiple store releases. - Strong experience with either native development (Swift and SwiftUI, or Kotlin and Jetpack Compose) or cross-platform frameworks such as React Native, Flutter, or Kotlin Multiplatform. - Ability to own features from technical design through launch and iteration in a cross-functional team. - Strong mobile engineering fundamentals, including architecture, performance, and testing. - Regular hands-on experience with agentic coding tools and sound judgment about reviewing and validating generated code.
Nice to have - Experience taking a mobile app from initial build to launch. - Background in fintech, security-sensitive products, or regulated industries.
Benefits and work setup - Benefits listed include health and financial wellness resources, mental health and family-building support, student loan resources, and monthly work-from-home and quarterly lifestyle stipends.
