Role overview This Staff DevOps Engineer role helps shape a global SaaS workforce analytics and time-tracking platform built for remote and distributed teams. It is a high-impact, fully remote position focused on building secure, scalable, and highly automated cloud infrastructure. The role partners with engineering leadership and architects to improve reliability, security, developer experience, and platform scalability across the global SaaS footprint.
Responsibilities - Design and operate scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP. - Build and improve Kubernetes, Linux, and cloud networking environments. - Standardize infrastructure using Terraform, Terragrunt, Helm, and GitOps practices. - Improve CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and ArgoCD. - Build monitoring, logging, and alerting using Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, CloudWatch, and Better Stack. - Strengthen security, disaster recovery, and overall platform resilience. - Drive platform strategy while remaining hands-on with implementation. - Improve developer productivity through automation and self-service infrastructure.
Requirements - Experience building and operating production cloud infrastructure at scale using AWS (GCP experience is a plus). - Expertise with Terraform, Kubernetes (EKS), Docker, Helm, and modern GitOps practices. - Track record building reliable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or similar tools. - Experience supporting production PostgreSQL, Redis, and other distributed systems. - Hands-on monitoring and observability experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, CloudWatch, or comparable platforms. - Solid understanding of networking, IAM, encryption, disaster recovery, and cloud security best practices. - Comfort supporting applications built with Ruby on Rails, Go, Rust, or Node.js.
Nice to have - Experience scaling infrastructure for a high-growth SaaS product. - Background building or evolving a platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps function. - Leadership on cloud modernization or infrastructure transformation initiatives. - Familiarity with service mesh technologies, serverless platforms, or data platform/ETL infrastructure. - Background thriving in a fully remote, async-first engineering culture.
