About this role
Role overview
A senior backend engineering role on a small data ingestion team inside a remote-first cybersecurity company. The team builds and operates the high-throughput pipelines that turn raw penetration-test output into the structured data powering asset inventory, reporting, and analytics across an autonomous security platform. The position reports to the Data Ingestion Engineering Manager and partners closely with adjacent platform teams on shared data contracts.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate ingestion pipelines that process scan output, discovered assets, vulnerability findings, and network topology at scale - Own end-to-end delivery of pipeline features: schema design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring - Develop ETL components in Go and/or Python that normalize heterogeneous inputs from upstream execution engines - Partner with asset inventory and data platform engineers to define and evolve the data contracts feeding downstream consumers - Diagnose and resolve production issues around latency, throughput, and data correctness - Contribute to design and code reviews and provide engineering guidance to more junior engineers on the team
Requirements
- Five or more years of professional experience building production backend systems - Strong proficiency in Go and/or Python, the team's primary languages - Hands-on experience building and operating data pipelines or ETL systems in production, including streaming and batch workloads - Working knowledge of message queues or event-streaming systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ - Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and migrations - Operational maturity with Kubernetes, containerized environments, AWS or an equivalent cloud, and incident response practices
Nice to have
- Cybersecurity, security tooling, or vulnerability/threat data background - Familiarity with graph databases such as Neo4j or DGraph - Production-scale Apache Kafka experience - Offensive security background
Benefits and work setup
- Remote or hybrid depending on location, with some hybrid roles anchored to a U.S. office - Competitive salary plus a stock option package for full-time roles - Health, vision, and dental coverage for employees and dependents, flexible vacation, and generous parental leave
