About this role
Role overview
Own the architecture, delivery, and long-term health of internal applications and platform capabilities as a senior full-stack engineer. The work spans TypeScript web interfaces, Node.js services, cloud infrastructure, and production operations, with responsibility for products from initial discovery through ongoing improvement. You may also lead technical work on selected client projects and guide other developers.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and ship full-stack applications using TypeScript, React or Next.js, and Node.js services or APIs. - Own back-end services, integrations, and API design, including authentication, validation, error handling, and background processing. - Deploy, operate, and monitor production systems on Google Cloud or AWS, covering delivery pipelines, security, observability, and cost. - Translate creative, production, and operational workflows into reliable software, and integrate AI capabilities where useful. - Set engineering standards through architecture decisions, code review, testing practices, and documentation. - Lead technical delivery on selected client work, support freelance developers as needed, and recommend tools and frameworks.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years using TypeScript or JavaScript professionally in production. - Expert TypeScript skills, including advanced types, generics, strict typing, API contracts, and a strong grasp of JavaScript runtime behavior. - Deep Node.js experience building production APIs and services, plus strong React skills in component design, state, data fetching, and performance. - Production experience with Next.js, including its App Router, server components, rendering, routing, and caching. - Hands-on experience deploying and operating production workloads on Google Cloud or AWS, using containers and CI/CD pipelines. - Strong SQL and database design skills, disciplined unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, and a record of making secure, maintainable systems. - Autonomy in ambiguous work and the ability to explain technical decisions to engineering and nontechnical partners.
Nice to have
- Infrastructure as code, such as Terraform, Pulumi, or AWS CDK; scripting with Python or Bash. - Experience building internal tools, workflow automation, developer platforms, or extensions for creative software. - Work with LLM APIs, AI agents, or AI-powered product features; open-source contributions; or experience in a creative studio or agency setting.
