Senior Engineering Manager - Enablement
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Lead an engineering enablement function responsible for helping software teams ship faster and more safely. The role combines management, internal-platform product thinking, developer-experience strategy, and practical leadership on AI-assisted engineering, with ownership spanning delivery systems, testing, dependencies, tooling, and measurable developer productivity.
Responsibilities
- Own the developer feedback loops that support delivery, including CI/CD, testing health, dependency management, and engineering tooling. - Lead experimentation and adoption of AI-assisted development for both human engineers and autonomous agents. - Define productivity, satisfaction, and return-on-investment measures that demonstrate the function’s impact. - Guide organization-wide workflow changes, building alignment and helping engineers adopt new practices. - Manage and develop engineers through regular feedback, career support, and effective team processes. - Treat internal platforms and tools as products, with engineers as customers and reliability as a core outcome.
Requirements
- Several years leading engineering enablement, developer-experience, internal-platform, or similar teams through sustained organizational change. - Strong practical understanding of CI/CD and modern software delivery workflows. - Experience creating and operating developer-productivity or ROI measurement programs. - Track record of leading cross-functional change, such as a major workflow transformation or AI rollout. - Deep familiarity with AI development tools and the judgment to distinguish useful applications from poor ones. - Ability to articulate a clear philosophy for responsible, effective AI use in engineering. - Familiarity with observability and OpenTelemetry, plus experience serving internal engineers as platform customers.
Nice to have
- Continued interest in contributing to or reviewing code, even though hands-on coding is not the primary focus. - Experience building personal or internal AI-driven tools.
Benefits and work setup
- Fully distributed work with a high degree of autonomy and accountability. - Base salary of $208,260–$234,000, depending on experience and level. - Equity participation, transparent pay levels, unlimited paid time off, and support for home-office or coworking needs. - Employer-supported health coverage, retirement contributions, parental leave, and professional-development resources.
