Role overview Help build, strengthen, and scale the data foundation powering decision-making at a fast-paced, remote-first real estate technology startup. The role focuses on data modeling, pipeline ownership, and architecting a reliable analytics environment ready for emerging AI use cases. This is a long-term contractor engagement open to candidates based in Latin America, with meaningful overlap required during U.S. Central Time business hours.
Responsibilities - Own the health and reliability of data pipelines, proactively diagnosing failures and implementing durable fixes. - Design, build, test, and optimize scalable dimensional data models and data marts in dbt. - Structure models around abstract business definitions so technical implementation aligns with business logic. - Architect the data environment for AI-readiness, including documentation, governance, and accessibility. - Evaluate tooling and validation processes to ensure dbt models and AI-enabled workflows produce accurate outputs. - Partner with product, technology, and business stakeholders to translate analytical needs into scalable solutions.
Requirements - Strong background in analytics engineering, data engineering, business intelligence, or a related discipline. - Advanced proficiency in SQL and dimensional data modeling at production level. - Hands-on experience building and maintaining production data models and semantic layers in dbt. - Demonstrated experience owning ingestion and transformation pipelines and diagnosing reliability problems. - Working familiarity with AWS or a comparable cloud data environment. - Working knowledge of Python and orchestration tools such as Airflow. - Understanding of data governance principles including metric definitions, data quality, documentation, lineage, and access.
Nice to have - Familiarity with modern BI tools such as Looker, Hex, Tableau, or equivalents. - Exposure to LLM or AI-enabled data tooling and how data architecture supports those use cases.
